Asia Air Freight

With many people choosing not to fly, passenger aircrafts have experienced a higher number of cancellations. As a large proportion of air cargo is transported via these flights, total cargo capacity is lowered.

This scarcity is being seen in China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Forecasts indicate that there will continue to be a sharp drop in passenger numbers in the coming months, so several airlines have warned that their departures will be adjusted according to demand.

DSV has created a solution – our charter network is now flying to and from China. Please reach out to your local DSV representative for more information.

Status in South Korea

The South Korean government raised the alert level in the country to its highest level, with some restrictive measures put into place for public transportation and schools. There has also been a reduction in flights and a ban on large-scale events.

Most companies have been operating with their own contingency plans and business has not been greatly affected, but at this stage, it is likely that further government instructions will be released to contain the quickly evolving situation.

DSV Korea has formed a Business Continuity Program (BCP) committee that will update customers on the latest regulations and government guidelines, which could affect our operations and processes.

Status in Italy

Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte signed a decree to limit the spread of the coronavirus by shutting down large areas of northern Italy and quarantining more than 15 million people.

The government still allows domestic transport of goods across regions, including those that are under quarantine, meaning the quarantine only applies to passenger transport. However, this can still affect capacity in the area.
