In our February newsletter, DSV released information regarding the FDA has announcement concerning the launch of two new programs to ensure foods imported into the United States are produced in accordance with the same safety standards as domestically produced food.
In this publication, we would like to inform you that the FDA has announced the recognition of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as the second accreditation body to be recognized under the Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.

According to the FDA, accreditation bodies will have the authority to issue certifications to foreign food facilities for the next five years. The certifications can be used by importers to establish eligibility to participate in the VQIP program with the FDA.
The FDA’s Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), entry-reporting obligations will begin for the majority of food importers on March 19, 2018.
The compliance dates for importers may differ depending on size of the foreign supplier, nature of the importer, etc.
