DSV SFO Volunteering Day

Working as a team is a huge asset, however volunteering together redefines ‘teamwork’ at a higher level.

On Saturday, August 12, 2017 - twenty-five DSV employees from different departments in the US San Francisco branch volunteered at SF/Marin Foodbank.
Statistics show that one in four people in the bay area are at risk of hunger.  The local foodbank works with over 400 different organizations which provides 190,000 meals per day for people in need. Forty-eight million pounds of food goes through the facility every year.

The DSV team packed 31,000 lbs. of fruit, which in turn fed over 30,000 people. It was a very positive and unforgettable experience. One of the team leaders, Jesper Madsen, District Manager mentioned: “It was a great team building activity that offered DSV an opportunity to work together in a different environment which in turn allowed us to view each other from a different perspective.”

After the event, the team went to a local restaurant to brunch and reflect. It was a perfect end to an interesting morning. Our team is thankful for the opportunity to give part of their heart to the community and help people in need.

It is fulfilling to serve our community while at the same time raising consciousness about the local philanthropy needs. We feel that the DSV team made a difference this day.
