UPDATE: U.S. CBP Further Refines Requirements on Duty Increase for List 3 of Section 301

In a message via the Cargo Systems Messaging Service this morning, May 10th, 2019, U.S. Customs and Border Protection further defined the requirements for importers of List 3 of Section 301 goods.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) published a notice yesterday, May 9th, 2019, that the third tranche of Section 301 tariffs would be increased from 10% to 25%. This increase, which affects $200 billion worth of Chinese products, has now taken effect after a few delays in its implementation.

All goods subject to the third tranche increases will receive the lower 10% duty if the shipment enters into the United States before June 1st, 2019.  Any goods on List 3 of Section 301 that enter the United States after June 1st, 2019 will receive the new 25% duty regardless of the export date.
