East & West Coast Port Congestion Causing Delays on US Imports

East & West Coast Port Congestion Causing Delays on US Imports

We are bracing for expected continued delays for US imports in the coming weeks due to congestion at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on the West Coast as well as New York ports in the East.

The delays have been caused by a number of factors: peak season traffic, the lead-up to Chinese New Year on February 5th, and the prospect of further tariffs on imports from China. The issues are exacerbated by shortages of container chassis, rail cars and motor transport. Other areas outside of the immediate region are also affected such as the Midwest, where major Container Yards are experiencing the run-off of the disruption.

DSV is staying abreast of the situation and keeping our customers informed through direct contact. Please be sure to contact your local representative for personalized care.

Be sure to share our subscription to customers and suppliers alike, in order to receive updates such as our advance notice sent December 20, 2018 – reminding clients to book early to avoid possible delays related to Chinese New Year.
